“If you are ever to comprehend the true meaning of faith, it is crucial that you understand this lesson in its entirety.” With those words Apostle Mary Banks opens a study she asks the student to receive as possibly the single most important lesson in his or her spiritual growth. “All that we are, and will ever hope to be, is contained in our faith.”

This is not another “faith and prosperity” message. Apostle Banks writes as one who once believed, taught and responded to that message herself, until the Lord visited her with a revelation of faith and she went back to her congregation to say, “I was wrong! The Lord has instructed me more perfectly on the operation of faith.” The course traces that revelation from its foundation, perspective, the place from which boundaries originate, through the difference between the belief of man and the Faith of God, to the conclusion the title declares: Faith is the Holy Ghost.

What you will study

• Lesson 1, Introduction to Faith: the plight of the apostle, the subtle weapon Satan used to neutralize the Church, how the “Faith and Prosperity” message stunted the spiritual growth of the Body, and the unity of the Faith.
• Lesson 2, Setting the Perspective: the mystery that was hid in God, the meaning of a dispensation, and perspective as the realm in which a doctrine sits.
• Lesson 3, Faith and Belief: Abraham believed God, righteousness imputed without works, belief as something merely affectual, the sower and the missing root, “by nature the children of wrath,” and the Faith of God that is effectual.
• Lesson 4, Faith is the Holy Ghost: God’s definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1, substance and evidence defined, the difference between the natural blessings of the Old Covenant and the spiritual blessings of the New, and why we know that Faith is the Holy Ghost.

Who this course is for

This course is for believers, teachers and ministers who are willing to lay a teaching alongside the Holy Canon and let the scriptures be the final authority, including those who have held fast to the “name it, claim it” and “confess it and possess it” teachings and have been left frustrated and weary in well doing. Apostle Banks asks only that you keep an open heart and mind, try the truth by your spirit, and hear the conclusion of the matter before you judge it.

How you are assessed

Each lesson ends with a chapter quiz and a discussion drawn from the manual’s own Lesson Assignment and Self-Evaluation questions. The course closes with a final exam drawing on all four lessons. Chapter quizzes count for 60% of your grade and the final exam for 40%. A passing grade is 70% or higher.
