About this course

Rightly Dividing the Word I: Setting the Boundaries of the Faith is Apostle Mary Banks' foundational course on how the Word of God is to be handled. Many different doctrines are preached today out of the same Bible. This course answers why, and gives the student the discipline that prevents it: build only line upon line, precept upon precept (Isaiah 28:10), and never build outside the boundaries.

Chapter One applies that principle to establish Christ as Savior and to identify His body: how God dealt with sin under the Old Covenant, why the law was our schoolmaster, why the sacrifices could not purge the conscience, and what the Determinate Counsel, the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost, determined concerning the death of Christ. Chapters Two and Three then set the boundaries of the faith: who set them, what material they are made of (the Life of Christ), how the apostles' doctrine defines their limits, how the Holy Ghost teaches us to compare spiritual things with spiritual, and the four things “that life” contains, Oneness, the Faith of Christ, Suffering, and God's Purpose. Chapter Four takes up the first of those four: oneness with God, which is the mind of Christ.

Who this course is for

This course is for every born-again believer who reads, studies, teaches or preaches the scriptures and wants to handle them as God intends, seeing as God sees and knowing as God has ordained. It is essential preparation for teachers, ministers and students of every other course in the Growth Path, because it establishes the limits within which all sound doctrine is built.

  • Passing score: 70% or higher

Each chapter also includes a self-evaluation discussion. These are designed as tools for you to examine how you are applying the teaching to your own individual life, please answer honestly and thoroughly.
